Hybrid 55+
Members over 55, and anyone training for the long game
Strength, balance and capacity in one session, built around the things that decide whether the next thirty years are independent ones.

Who it is for
Members over 55, and anyone training for the long game
Hybrid is our longevity programme. It is not a gentler version of the other programmes with the weights taken off; it is a different set of priorities. Strength, balance, bone loading, and the ability to get down onto the floor and back up again.
The group skews over 55 but the door is open to anyone who wants this emphasis. Members range from people who have lifted for decades to people who started at 68.
We train hard here. The load on the bar is real, the carries are heavy, and nobody is treated as fragile. What changes is how much time we spend on balance, single-leg work and unhurried warm-ups.
What a week looks like
| Day | Session | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Tuesday | Strength · 60 min | Squat or hinge, pressing, loaded carry, balance work throughout |
| Thursday | Strength & floor · 60 min | Pulling, single-leg work, getting up and down from the floor under control |
| Saturday | Capacity · 45 min | Easy bike or row, sled work, longer carries at a steady pace |
| Any day | Walk | Thirty minutes or more, ideally somewhere with a hill in it |
Two strength sessions and one capacity session a week, plus walking.
What you will be coached on
- Loading the hips, spine and legs safely as a routine part of training
- Standing on one leg without holding on, and why that matters more each year
- Getting to the floor and back up under control, practised deliberately
- Grip strength and carrying — both track closely with independence
- Training around arthritis, replacements and old injuries sensibly
- Recovering well between sessions when recovery takes longer than it used to
Honest expectations
Strength improves at any age. It takes longer to accumulate and it needs more recovery, but the direction of travel is the same.
Expect the first six weeks to be about technique and consistency rather than load.
Balance work responds quickly — often within weeks, which makes it a satisfying place to start.
We do not make claims about health outcomes or disease risk. We coach strength, and we let your clinicians talk about the rest.
Try it before you commit.
